Fifa President Sepp Blatter has used the official closing of the World Cup in South Africa to defend his organisation's decision to award future tournaments to first-time hosts Russia and Qatar.
Speaking at Soccer City, the venue for the 2010 final, Blatter said: “We shall go to new territories.”
He added: “Don't speak about money. This (the future World Cups) has nothing to do with money. It has to do with football development.”
Blatter also said there will be a $100 million fund for football development in South Africa, but says $20 million has already been spent on the South African Football Association's new headquarters and part of the organising of the tournament. – Sapa-AP
