#CarlingBlackLabelCup Paez gets the nod for Kaizer Chiefs

JOHANNESBURG – Gustavo Paez will feature in his first Soweto derby in the Carling Black Label Champion Cup on Saturday at FNB Stadium.

The striker received the nod from Kaizer Chiefs’ fans, who voted him into the starting line-up that was announced on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old Venezuelan centre-forward joined Amakhosi in the middle of last season and made an immediate impact, scoring five goals in the 18 matches he featured for the club in all competitions.

Up in the final third, Bernard Parker joins him as a supporting striker, while George Lebese, George Maluleka and Hendrick Ekstein have been roped in for supporting roles.

Orlando Pirates’ final third is made up of Tendai Ndoro, who finished as the league’s second top goal-scorer behind Cape Town City’s Lebohang Manyama with 12, while Thamsanqa Gabuza, Luvuyo Memela, Mpho Makola and Oupa Manyisa are expected to serve as his assistants upfront.

Itumeleng Khune and Siyabonga Mpontshane will be their goal-minders for their respective sides in this Saturday’ Soweto Derby.
