London - The FA responded to mounting protests over sky-high ticket prices yesterday by reducing the cost of attending the FA Cup final and semi-finals.

A £5 (R113) price cut on all tickets for the Wembley showpiece on May 21 means the cheapest ticket will be £45 (R1 017), excluding concessions, and prices for the semi-finals on April 23-24 will begin at £30 (R678).

It comes after pressure was put on Premier League clubs to make football more affordable following protests by Liverpool fans and a Sportsmail campaign to stop extortionate pricing.

The FA’s move will increase the pressure on the Premier League ahead of proposed meetings to discuss their own cheaper ticket incentives for next season.

Sunderland revealed on Monday that they will reduce season-ticket prices at the Stadium of Light for next season. Adult season tickets at the club will start at £350 (R7 914), which averages out at £18 (R407) per match in a 38-game Premier League season.
