Pirates will now lock horns with Free State Stars in the semifinals after the latter edged past BidVest Wits with a 5-4 penalty shoot-out victory following a 0-0 draw in Bethlehem.
It is the fourth time since 2008 that Stars have reached the Nedbank Cup semi-finals, but they are yet to advance to the trophy decider. They beat provincial rivals Polokwane City 2-0 to set up a semi-final meeting at 2012 champions SuperSport United, who edged Mpumalanga Black Aces 2-1 on Friday night.
