JOHANNESBURG – SuperSport United will lock horns with Kaizer Chiefs away from home in the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup as they continue with their quest of defending their cup title.

Matsatsantsa a Pitori progressed to the last eight of cup competition after beating an ABC Motsepe league side, Kwadukaza United 2-0 in the last 32 of this competition.

Against Chiefs, they meet up against a side which will also be inspired to progress further in the cup race, after having produced a hard fought 2-1 result against Acornbush United to progress further in this cup competition.

Two goals by Gustavo Paez in the second period were enough to save Chiefs from what could have turned out to be an early exit for club as its caliber playing against an amateur side from the ABC Motsepe League in the last 16 as well.

Jomo Cosmos remain to be the only team from the lower divisions in this cup race after beating Bidvest Wits on penalties in the last 16.

Jomo Sono will hope to inspire his side to another victory when they take on Chippa United in an away clash of the last eight.

In other fixtures, Clinton Larsen will hope to inspire his side another victory when they host Platinum Stars, after producing a smash-and-grab 1-0 performance against Mamelodi Sundowns this past weekend.

In a post match interview following their triumph against the Chloorkop side, Larsen revealed that they were under no pressure on winning this cup competition, however, added that they were more than determined to go as far as they could.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirate coach, Kjell Jonevret expressed that he knew nothing about Bloemfontein Celtic’ style of play, adding that his side would cross that bridge when they get there.

“I have seen them play but I wouldn’t say that I know much about them,” Jonevret said. “My focus is now centered on our upcoming two games which are against Maritzburg United and then Highlands Park. But having said that, I do believe we have enough time to prepare for that clash.”
