Monte Carlo – Star striker Radamel Falcao has a torn anterior cruciate ligament, his club Monaco confirmed, and is likely to miss the World Cup. “It appears that the player is suffering from trauma in the left knee with lesion of ligament anterior cruciate,” the Ligue 1 club said in a brief statement. “The player will have surgery in next few days. Doctors will do everything possible to speed up recovery,” the club noted. Given the seriousness of the injury that the striker suffered in a French Cup game Wednesday and usual recovery periods in such cases, Falcao, 27, will most likely miss the Brazil 2014 World Cup with Colombia.
