A goalkeeper was sent off just 11 seconds into a game – one of the fastest red cards in football history.

Nicky Seekings, 32, of Ashton Villa brought down an Ingol Rangers striker moments after kick-off in the Lancashire Sunday League Premier Division clash. He normally plays up front himself but was standing in for regular keeper Joe Griffiths, a male model who was away on a shoot.

Seekings hadn’t even touched the ball before he was sent off in the possible title decider. ‘I couldn’t believe it when I saw the red card,’ he said. ‘Not because the ref had sent me off but because it had happened so fast.

‘They kicked off and passed it to the left-back who hoofed it over the top. I’m on the edge of my area and it’s hit a bobble and bounced over me. I’ve tried to block the striker off because he’d have a tap-in but he was strong so I had to wrap my arms around him to bring him down. It’s the start and end of a very short goalkeeping career.’ Table-toppers Rangers won 6-2. – Daily Mail
