Durban - A letter of denial and a wall of silence have been put forward by Golden Arrows to shoot down claims by an online Kenyan media organisation that the Durban club threatened winger Cliffton Miheso at gunpoint to sign a contract termination agreement.

Arrows posted a letter on their website in which Kenyan winger Miheso states that the news reports by Citizen Digital about being threatened by the club were incorrect. The brief note was posted on Saturday, following the drama that allegedly took place that morning at the club offices atMoses Mabhida Stadium.

According to Citizen Digital, Miheso alleged that he was threatened by club chief executive Gordon Masondo when he refused to sign a termination agreement. Two gunmen allegedly burst in and pointed their guns on Miheso, forcing him to sign a document he was not given time to read, said the report.

They took off with the document and Masondo when another club official walked in. They demanded the copy of his contract with the club that Miheso had in his possession but the player fled to a police station, claimed the Kenyan online publication.

However in the letter addressed to Arrows boss Mato Madlala, which the club posted on their website, Miheso expressed “disappointment” at the news which claimed he was threatened.

“This is all incorrect in fact I am grateful to you and everything you have done for me. The termination agreement I signed is correct and I was not forced to sign it. I did this willingly and I have been paid everything due to me.

“I wish to state my apologies for everything,” said the letter which was signed by Miheso.

Masondo and Madlala were unavailable for comment. According to the Citizen Digital the player was set to depart for Johannesburg yesterday to catch the first available flight back home.

He arrived from Kenyan giants AFC Leopards at the start of the season and featured regularly as a winger, and occasionally as a left-back.
