Jose Mourinho will propose Roman Abramovich bankrolls another summer transfer spree to turn Chelsea into Europe’s top dogs once more.

The Blues manager will recommend the newly-crowned Barclays Premier League champions strengthen significantly ahead of the next campaign when he files his end-of-season report this month.

Despite their title success, Mourinho knows he must improve on the club’s Champions League showing this season after they were knocked out by Paris Saint-Germain in the second round.

And Sportsmail understands Mourinho’s dossier will identify a new goalkeeper, centre back, left back, attacking midfielder and striker as the areas that need addressing.

Technical director Michael Emenalo and influential director Marina Granovskaia have already held meetings with intermediaries, as the club prepare for another busy summer.

Petr Cech’s imminent exit, potentially to Arsenal, means the club will look to sign a new second-choice goalkeeper, with Queens Park Rangers’ Robert Green, 35, an option.

Scouts are also identifying replacements for left back Filipe Luis, who is expected to leave after just one season having failed to dislodge Cesar Azpilicueta. Atletico Madrid are interested in re-signing the defender.

Chelsea will also aim to sign a long-term successor for John Terry with Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane their top target.

Mourinho will consider offers for creative midfielder Oscar, meaning the Blues will be in the market for a replacement, possibly Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling, whose future is unclear. Atletico’s attacking midfielder Antoine Griezmann and Shakhtar Donetsk’s Douglas Costa have also earned rave reviews from Chelsea scouts.

The club are identifying centre-forward targets to replace Didier Drogba, who is set to leave.

In addition, a new central midfielder is on the club’s radar but Mourinho is likely to promote academy star Ruben Loftus-Cheek into the senior side to fill the gap.

Chelsea will also look to sell winger Mohamed Salah, who is interesting Tottenham, to offset their summer spending. – Daily Mail
