Everton are ready to play hardball with Manchester City over the transfer of John Stones.
Manager Ronald Koeman had no qualms starting the central defender in last night’s friendly against Dynamo Dresden as the two clubs continue to haggle.
City saw a £40million bid rejected for Stones this week, with the Toffees demanding closer to £50m.
Everton’s stance is reminiscent of last year’s defiance during Jose Mourinho’s very public courting of the England international while Chelsea manager.
Stones (below) also played during Tuesday night’s win against Milton Keynes Dons as Koeman refuses to allow talk of a move to hamper his pre-season preparations.
