Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain of Arsenal celebrates after scoring against Blackburn.
* HE is only 18 years old with three Premier League starts to his name but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored his first two goals in the competition on Saturday and was tipped for England by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
* Oxlade-Chamberlain’s goals, which came from just three shots, make him the youngest player to score a top-flight double for eight years – since a certain Wayne Rooney did the same.
* THE winger also made three key passes which created chances as he made a firm case to move ahead of the unpopular Andrey Arshavin in the pecking order at Arsenal.
* THE Ox had a passing accuracy of 84.8 per cent on Saturday as 28 of his 33 passes were on target and he has out-performed Arshavin in all the key areas this term.
* Arshavin has scored only one league goal this term and has an inferior shooting accuracy to Oxlade-Chamberlain (31 to 38 per cent), worse pass completion rate (74 to 81 per cent) and completed a lower proportion of crosses (33 to 65 per cent).
* IN fact, tackles won was all that Arshavin beat the youngster on in the key stats (78 to 50 per cent).
Before Arsenal fans get too excited, they should remember that Rovers’ Paul Robinson has a worse record against their team than any other goalkeeper. The former Tottenham and Leeds player has conceded 60 goals in 21 Premier League games against them. – Daily Mail
