London - Arsenal’s three-month reign as Barclays Premier League pacesetters came to an end on Monday night when they were held by Chelsea in an ill-tempered 0-0 draw at The Emirates.

Arsene Wenger’s side, who had been top of the table from mid-September until Saturday evening, failed to create a decent chance as Jose Mourinho reverted to his old defensive mindset in the pouring rain.

Only Liverpool fans really enjoyed the night - the result put their club top of the table on Christmas Day for the first time since 2008.

Arsenal now lie second on goal difference and Chelsea fourth.

Gunners players were even squabbling among themselves, with Olivier Giroud shouting at Aaron Ramsey for putting the ball out because Ramires was injured, instead of going for goal.
