Manchester City’s Yaya Toure has accused Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho of lacking respect for his rivals — but conceded his side are now favourites to win the Barclays Premier League.

Toure, a former Barcelona midfielder, said: ‘He is a coach and he must give respect a little bit. He is always talking about everyone and that is not the correct way. That is why Barcelona always beat Madrid when Mourinho was here.’

Talking to Marca, Toure added: ‘Chelsea are nine points ahead. Yes, we have three games in hand but we could lose all three of them. Chelsea for me are the favourites. It’s good that we can now focus on the Premier League. ‘The most important thing is that we will get more rest. We’ve been involved in so many competitions and it’s so hard. We lost Sergio Aguero again with an injury and he is always an important player.’

Asked if a season that ends with just the Capital One Cup win would be a failure for a club who have spent so much money, Toure was adamant.

‘Why? Why would it be?’ he replied. ‘Don’t say we’d be failures, we’ve won something already.’ – Daily Mail
