London – Crystal Palace have been rebuffed in an attempt to take former player Wilfried Zaha back to the club on loan from Manchester United, manager Tony Pulis revealed on Tuesday.

England international Zaha signed for United from Palace in a deal worth £15 million ($24.5 million, 18 million euros) a year ago before being loaned back to the London club.

He played a starring role as Palace were promoted to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs, but has barely featured since linking up with United in the close season, making only two substitute appearances in the league.

United manager David Moyes says that several clubs have enquired about signing Zaha on loan, but Pulis has revealed that his own approach for the 21-year-old winger proved unsuccessful.

“We've spoken to David Moyes about Zaha and I don't think he's too keen on him coming back to London,” Pulis told talkSPORT radio.

“It's not a problem for us. He's a Manchester United player. We don't think it's a goer, although we were very keen if there was a possibility to take him on.” – Sapa-AFP
