Steven Pienaar has confirmed that he will return on loan to Everton from Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the season.
Bafana Bafana midfieleder Steven Pienaar will return on loan to Everton FC from Tottenham Hotspur, the player confirmed at the close of the January transfer window.
“Very thankful that Spurs management allowed me to go on loan and I'm very happy it could be to Everton, a club close to my heart,” Pienaar said on social networking site Twitter on Wednesday.
Pienaar transferred to the London side a year ago but struggled to gain a first team place ahead midfielders Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, Rafael van der Vaart, Scott Parker and Aaron Lennon.
“Manager needs to make his choices, I understand, but I love playing & just can't sit so much on the bench.”
“It was killing my spirit.”
Harry Redknapp paid a fee of R23 million for Pienaar in his move from Everton last year.
“Mixed emotions 2 leave Spurs on loan 2 Everton. Disappointed I couldnt get in a playing groove on a regular basis&show the fans the real me.”
Pienaar will don his old blue strip of Everton, the side based in Liverpool.
