MANCHESTER, England – Brazilian right back Rafael Da Silva has signed a new four-year contract with Manchester United, tying him to the Premier League giants until the summer of 2016.

The 21-year-old defender established himself as a regular in United's first team by the end of last season, earning him a call-up to his national squad.

United manager Alex Ferguson described Rafael on Monday as “one of the club's brightest young prospects” and tipped him to “become one of the best full backs in the world.”

Rafael, who moved to Old Trafford in 2008, says “my time here has been unbelievable; winning two league titles, a League Cup and a Club World Cup has made me hungry for more trophies.” – Sapa-AP
