Mauricio Pochettino expects Tottenham to make more signings before the start of the Premier League season.

The Spurs manager has spent £30million on Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama and AZ Alkmaar forward Vincent Janssen. But with Champions League football back on the agenda, Pochettino revealed he wants more arrivals soon.

‘I expect some signings over the next few weeks,’ he said ahead of Tottenham’s friendly against Atletico Madrid today.

‘We will see what happens. We’ll see some activity.’

When asked which positions he was looking to strengthen, Pochettino smiled and responded: ‘You want to know too much.’

The Argentine did, however, reveal that he was satisfied with his defence. Jan Vertonghen is close to recovery from an ankle injury suffered during Belgium’s Euro 2016 campaign, and Pochettino also earmarked Wanyama as a potential centre back.

‘Jan is in London and is training,’ he said. ‘He is feeling very good and is very close.

‘Kevin Wimmer, Toby Alderweireld and then Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama — I think we have enough.’

Meanwhile, Christian Eriksen has revealed he is over a bug that kept him out of Spurs’ 2-1 defeat by Juventus on Tuesday. The Denmark international went down with stomach pains for three days after his first training session but has now recovered. – Daily Mail
