London – England added Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling to their squad on Saturday ahead of Tuesday's final World Cup qualifier against Poland at London's Wembley Stadium.
Sterling helped the England Under-21 team beat their San Marino counterparts 4-0 on Tuesday.
He came into the senior set-up after manager Roy Hodgson lost the services of Manchester United's Tom Cleverley before England's 4-1 qualifying win over Montenegro at Wembley on Friday and then saw Kyle Walker collect a suspension during that match that ruled him out of Tuesday's fixture
Victory over Montenegro preserved England's lead at the top of European qualifying Group H and meant they will now secure a place at next year's World Cup finals in Brazil if they beat Poland. – Sapa-AFP
