Durban – Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said on Tuesday his team was “always delighted to come to South Africa”.

Addressing the local media for the first time, after his squad arrived in Durban late on Monday, Ferguson said they expected to face a challenge from two local Premiership teams.

The 19-time English champions are on the first leg of their world tour, which kicks off with a match against AmaZulu at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday evening.

They also play Ajax in Cape Town on Saturday, before moving on to China and a trio of European countries to finish the trip.

Ferguson said they looked forward to playing the two PSL clubs, and he expected them to be “extremely motivated” for the contests.

Usuthu will use Wednesday's match to mark the official start of their 80th anniversary festivities.

The game will also form part of the celebration of former President Nelson Mandela’s 94th birthday. – Sapa
