London – A person with knowledge of the situation says Manchester United have submitted a bid for Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
The person told The Associated Press that the bid for the former Arsenal captain is for €30 million. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorised to discuss the bid publicly.
The transfer bid comes two years after Fabregas left Arsenal to join boyhood club Barcelona for €29 million. There are three years remaining on his Camp Nou deal.
British media have previously reported that Arsenal have first refusal if Barcelona chooses to sell Fabregas.
At United, Fabregas would be re-united with striker Robin van Persie, who joined from Arsenal a year ago. – Sapa-AP
