CAPE TOWN - Ajax Cape Town star man Rivaldo Coetzee has gone AWOL at the club.

The Bafana Bafana defender was the Urban Warriors’ Player of the Season last term and has still not shown up for pre-season training, apparently looking to force a move away from the club.

And with the 20-year-old not given an extended holiday by the club or given a reason why he has not reported to training, coach Stanley Menzo admits he is worried.

The boss tells Kickoff: “I don’t know where he is. I don’t even know why he’s not at training.”

Ajax spokesman Shooz Mekuto, though, told the Daily Voice that the club is calm about the situation and will not comment on it until Rivaldo and the bosses have had contact.

Mekuto adds that Menzo’s squad is “95 percent there” and if the coach is identifies where the squad needs strengthening, the club will do their best to deliver on his demands.
