Josef Lekata struck in the last minute of injury time to salvage a 1-1 draw for AmaZulu in their mid-table Premiership encounter against Bloemfontein Celtic at the Free State Stadium on Sunday.

Lennox Bacela scored from the spot to give Celtic the lead in the 18th minute, which they held firmly till the break as the hosts dominated the first half.

Looking set to secure three points and vault themselves up the top half of the table, Celtic were crushed in the dying stages.

Lekata scored in the last seconds of optional time as the visitors snatched a point.

“We've been working hard at finishing, and we feel like we lost points at home which we should not have lost,” Bacela said.

“They scored in the last minute and we just have to be professional about it.

“We could have scored four or five goals, and those were clear-cut chances we should have taken, so we've got nobody else to blame.”

Celtic coach Clinton Larsen was devastated by the late defeat.

“The guys played so well the whole game and we threw it away at the end,” Larsen said.

“The boys did not deserve this. They played so hard.

“We had so many chances to bury the game early on and we just didn't do that.”

AmaZulu coach Roger Palmgren believed his side deserved the share of points, but he said he felt empathy for their hosts.

“For us it feels like winning,” he said, “but it must feel like losing for them.” – Sapa
