Johannesbrug - Khama Billiat says he cannot wait to pit his skills against some of the continent's best players when Mamelodi Sundowns begin the group phase of the African Champions League in Algeria at the weekend.

“Playing against the biggest sides in the competition is always exciting for any player because that's where you really get the opportunity to test yourselves individually and as a collective,” said the Zimbabwe international before Sundowns departed on Tuesday for Algeria for Saturday's match away at Entente Setif.

“We have done well in the domestic league, with some of the players even transferring that form to national team level. Now we have been given a second chance in the Champions League and have to show that we deserve to be there,” he added.

“When I joined Sundowns, playing in the Champions' League was one of the things that made me want to me to play for this club. I also know that the Club's vision is to conquer Africa, therefore, I believe we have an obligation to take the club to where it belongs.”

Sundowns play Entente Setif on Saturday in the first of their Group B matches.
