Bloemfontein - Newly signed Bloemfontein Celtic defender Tlou Molekwane says head coach Serame Letsoaka has made his intentions clear - the Free State club want to win trophies this season.

The former Kaizer Chiefs and Polokwane City right-back, one of several new signings unveiled by Phunya Sele Sele, says pre-season preparations have gone smoothly and that the players have responded well to Letsoaka's philosophies.

“The entire squad has been working vigorously during pre-season to ensure our readiness when the season begins. Most of the new guys are gradually gelling and getting used to the playing system that the coach and technical team want us use.

“We have been playing friendly games with competitive teams and that has also helped us get used to each other,” he told the club's website. The 27-year-old continued: “What the coach said about Celtic winning trophies in his comments when were unveiled has been emphasised during the training sessions. We are tirelessly working towards achieving greater heights this season. “In one of the training sessions, coach spoke eloquently about his vision and told us we are a bunch of incredibly talented and experienced players who can take on any opposition and that inspired us a lot,” he explained.

The Seshego-born Molekwane says he is feeling at home in Bloemfontein, and is enjoying the support of both his new team-mates and the Phunya Sele Sele faithful. “I have for years, watched from a distance a player like Alfred Ndengane who is a workaholic and has sublime team spirit mentality. “Playing alongside talented and experienced players like Musa Nyatama who also brings the spirit of unionism through his constant jokes and advices will make me a better player. “In addition, the supporters of this team are wonderful to watch, it is unbelievable to be part of such an excellent family. Rewarding the supporters with silverware is one of our ultimate aims,” he said.

The club meanwhile announced several new signings at the end of last week: “After being thoroughly assessed by Bloemfontein Celtic technical team, Sipho Chaine (goalkeeper) Matshego Nyapoli (right back), Keabetswe Mabe (Left back) and Kobedi Kobedi (midfielder) have all been promoted to the first team signing five year deals. “The young lads have been part of the pre-season and subsequently impressed with their maturity and the ability to compete at the higher level. “In addition Siwelele has also signed 2014 Nedbank Keyona dream team striker Sydney Masana who was in the books of Mthatha Bucks,” he said. - African News Agency (ANA)
