Free State Stars let go of a two goal lead in the last 30 minutes of their Absa Premiership match with local rivals Bloemfontein Celtic to draw 2-2 at the Free State Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Musa Nyatama and Roderick Mutuma’s goals for Celtic cancelled out Luyolo Nomandela and Basit Adam’s goals for Ea Lla Koto in a heated Free State derby encounter.
Celtic were the first side to settle in this heated Free State derby when Ruzaigh Gamildien saw his diving header go inches off the target after a lovely cross into the box by Joel Mogorosi out on the left wing.
In the 28th minute Danny Venter created space for himself 40-yards out on goal on the right flank when he let rip with a powerful shot, but Celtic goalkeeper Patrick Tignyemb was well positioned in his goal line to grab the ball with ease.
Two minutes later Katlego Mashego combined well with Basit Adam when he sent a brilliant cross into the box, but the latter headed his effort from six-yards over the bar with the Tignyemb at his mercy.
But the deadlock was broken in the 40th minute when Nomandela was at the receiving end of a cross from Venter and directed his header into the far corner to make it 1-0 to Stars.
Ea Lla continued in the second half where they had left off in the first half when they doubled their advantage on the score board. Adam showed great composure and skill when he turn outside the box and fired a thunderous left footed shot which found the back of the net in the 50th minute.
The Stars goal inspired a Celtic fight back. Eight minutes after conceding a second goal, Celtic got one back. Nyatama dribbled his way past three Stars defenders in the box and as he ran out of space he toe poked the ball past the Stars keeper to make it 2-1 in the 58th minute.
The Free State Stadium erupted into song when their side levelled in the 72nd minute. Mutuma connected with a cross from the right wing and headed home from 12-yards out to make it 2-2 with the Stars keeper failing to commit after he had come off his line.
