Pretoria - Three seasons in the Premiership, but no major trophies and medals to brag about for Kaizer Chiefs striker Lehlohonolo Majoro.

In less than two weeks, however, Majoro could be a league and cup double winner, with two coveted medals to proudly hang up in his home and show off to family and friends.

One title - the league - is virtually in the bag after Platinum Stars and Orlando Pirates dropped points on the weekend, and Majoro can’t wait to seal the deal when Amakhosi play SuperSport United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in their penultimate match on Wednesday night.

“As a player, you want to win every trophy that is on offer. I have not won any trophy. It’s only my third season in the league. But there is a possiblity that the first trophy I win will be the league, and the second one will be the Nedbank Cup. Some players have not experienced something of that sort ever since they played in the PSL. I’d be blesssed to win the league title as my first trophy,” said Majoro, who just three seasons ago was making his PSL debut, aged 24.

The Bafana Bafana striker, however, tried his best to play down the champions tag that’s already been bestowed on Amakhosi, perhaps worried that he would jinx his first shot at a major trophy, but gave it away when he said Chiefs have played “like champions” this season. “It’s never over until it’s over. Platinum Stars still have a chance.

“I mean, Sundowns beat Powerlines 24-0, so goal difference does not say much. They (Stars) managed to score six against Arrows (in the first half of the season), so we cannot say we are the champions until we beat or draw against SuperSport. We are not going to go there with the mentality that we have already won the league. We will play the very same way we have been playing from the first game,” said Majoro.

“We have played like champions. We really played like a team. Every player knew what what was expected from them,” the former AmaZulu marksman added.
