Cape Town - WIith another Soweto Derby looming at the end of the month, Kaizer Chiefs are set to wow their Cape Town fans when they meet Platinum Stars in a PSL game at the weekend.

This will be Chiefs’ second in a series of three league “home” games at Cape Town Stadium.

The team, still basking in its 1-0 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic, began preparations for Sunday’s game on Monday.

Spokesman Vina Maphosa said they are glad they suffered no injuries.

“The preparations started on Monday as the team recuperated after the game against Celtic on Sunday. We don’t have any new injuries from that match and the team is buoyant by collecting the points in Bloemfontein,” said Maphosa.

Chiefs went into their first game at the stadium after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in the Telkom Knockout final in Durban.

They then beat Wits 2-1 in front of a half-full stadium last month.

Maphosa said they expect a large crowd “everywhere we play”.

“This one is special because it is historic that we play home games in Cape Town – so we plan to fill up Cape Town Stadium.”

The team will be arriving in Cape Town on Saturday and Maphosa said they feel good and appreciated by Cape Town.

“Our travelling supporters also love Cape Town. Cape Town is close to our hearts, we command a huge following there. More so, we see it also as venturing into a different market with the cosmopolitan nature of the Cape.”

Chiefs’ third and final game at the stadium will be against against SuperSport United on February 20.

Leading up to the game at the weekend, roadshows will be entertaining fans up until the day before the game.

The roadshow will be in Delft on Wednesday, followed by one in Joe Slovo near Milnerton on Thursday, then one in the CBD on Friday and at Khayelitsha Mall on Saturday. All the roadshows start at noon and end at 5pm.

Tickets at Computicket at R60 for adults and R10 for children under 12.
