Johannesburg – Chippa United has fired coach Wilfred Mugeyi after a string of poor results.

The coach told Soccer Laduma on Wednesday he had been relieved of his duties.

“Unfortunately, there’s no more going forward because I got sacked today,” said Mugeyi.

Mugeyi confirmed technical director Roger Sikhakhane was also fired.

“You are the first to know that. I wasn’t told the reason. Chippa sent (team manager) Wanda (Mbenguzana) to tell me the news. Roger has been fired as well.”

It brings to five the number of coaches the club had axed this season.

The move followed a 2-1 Absa Premiership defeat to SuperSport United on Wednesday evening. The loss was Chippa's sixth Premiership defeat in a row, leaving them rooted to the bottom of the table on 16 points from 24 matches. – Sapa
