Cape Town City continue to prove they are a football club to be reckoned with in their announcement of the big-name capture of Bafana Bafana striker Ayanda Patosi.

The Cape club’s wily boss John Comitis, who is always on the look-out to take his team to a higher level, has lured the 24-year-old Khayelitsha-born player back home.

Comitis was ecstatic at the calibre of player he has added to the squad for next season.

“I think this just shows our intentions,” said Comitis. “We want to keep up the tempo and we want to keep challenging.

“It says a lot about our brand that we are able to persuade a player to return from Europe and come to play for City.

“I’m really excited, and I’m looking forward to seeing Ayanda on the field with (Lebogang) Manyama, (Aubrey) Ngoma and (Lehlohonolo) Majoro.”

Patosi came to prominence as a junior in the Mother City during his time with the African Soccer Development Academy (ASD) – and it was on the back of his sensational exploits for ASD that he was signed by Lokeren in Belgium in 2011.

He has had problems at the Belgium club in recent times and has not been playing regularly.

As a result, he also lost his Bafana place. In signing for City, Patosi will see it as an opportunity to revitalise his career and win back his position in the SA national football squad.
