Johannesburg - Polokwane City coach Luc Eymael admits to being concerned over what has been a somewhat leaky defence so far this season.

It's early days yet, but the five goals City have allowed into their own net puts them up with the highest number of goals conceded in the league by any club.

Last season saw the Limpopo club conceding 44, the second worst defensive record in the league, while in the 2014/ 15 campaign, a massive 60 goals were leaked. Their most recent action was a victory over Highlands Park on Saturday, another two goals conceded in the 3-2 win.

The result sees the Limpopo club in the seventh position with five points. Eymael was pleased with his team's attacking display, but will be looking for a way to tighten up at the back as his side get set to do battle with Maritzburg United in KZN on Tuesday night.

“I am fairly happy with the goals we scored but, because I am a perfectionist, I wasn't impressed with the goals scored by Highlands Park,” the Belgium-born coach told his club's website.

“We played some good football against Highlands Park and, with all that I am busy with the players in camp, I hope it will all translate on Tuesday with Maritzburg. “I often do not want to talk much before a match, but all I can say is that we are working very hard in making sure that we nip all our flaws in the bud, and make sure we do not concede any more goals going forward.”

The match at the Harry Gwala Stadium is one of six-midweek games, the fixtures are as follows (all games start at 7.30pm)

Tuesday

Orlando Pirates v Platinum Stars, Orlando Stadium Maritzburg Utd v Polokwane City, Harry Gwala Stadium Highlands Park v Cape Town City, Makhulong Stadium
