Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs' boss Stuart Baxter says it is simply a matter of time before his strikers start finding their form and has predicted a flurry of goals once that happens.

Mandla Masango scored his fourth Premiership goal of the season as Chiefs limped to a 1-0 win over Maritzburg United at FNB Stadium on Saturday night.

A sixth goal in both league and cup action, Masango scored Chiefs' 11th Premiership goal this season, 10 of which have come from the midfield.

“People have asked me, 'your strikers are not getting on the scoresheet a lot',” Baxter said afterwards.

“But they aren't getting into good situations. When they do get on the scoresheet, we'll have a lot of goals.

“I'm quite happy as long as we keep winning the games and we make the goals come from wherever.”

Kingston Nkhatha remains the only striker to have scored for the Glamour Boys.

Having come into the fixture on the back of their triumph in last weekend's MTN8 final against Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates, Baxter said he was satisfied with the performance of his team, considering all the factors.

“A tough game as we said before the game. A tough game because, one, it came after a big one (MTN8 final), two, a difficult opponent and, three, I knew that Steve would be trying everything he could to make it an awful evening for us.

“Considering all of that, I thought we did okay. We were a little bit up and down in our performance. We turned over the ball more than we usually do.

“In our transition play, we weren't clinical enough. We could have had a couple more goals and made it an easier evening.

“While it's 1-0, you know they are very much still alive and in the game.

“It's a good performance insomuch as we saw the game out properly.

Chiefs, who play Maritzburg again next weekend, this time in the opening round of the Telkom Knockout, are now unbeaten in 12 Premiership games, extending back to last season.

In the current campaign, Chiefs are yet to lose, or even draw, a game and maintained their 100 percent record of 11 wins out of 11, which includes four games in the top eight.
