Orlando Pirates coach Vladimir Vermezovic refused to point fingers at anyone following the club’s 2-1 defeat to Soweto rivals Moroka Swallows at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

The Buccaneers only have themselves to blame for the defeat at home, after they squandered one glorious opportunity after another, to the frustration of their supporters.

The biggest culprit was Kermit Erasmus, who should adopt the name “Eras-mess” after his display in front of goal on Saturday. Pirates were punished for their wasteful ways by Lerato Chabangu, who scored late on, but Vermezovic did not want to put the blame on his striker.

“We were lucky to win against SuperSport, but today we did not get that luck and we lost to Swallows. The luck cannot be repeated twice. Everybody is worried about finishing, but every day we are working on this. We will get there and the goals will come,” Vermezovic said.

“Even our midfielders did not use the chances that were created, Mpho (Makola), (Daine) Klate and (Sifiso Myeni). I am never going to point a finger to my players. We could not score as a team. For me it’s more important to be creative in the middle of the park.We did not play bad today,” the former Kaizer Chiefs added.

The Buccaneers take on Celtic in Bloemfontein on Wednesday before taking on Bidvest Wits in the MTN8 semi-finals on Sunday. - The Star
