Johannesburg – While all signs indicate that Keagan Dolly will be leaving the country for medicals at French Ligue 1 Montpellier, Mamelodi Sundowns are seemingly still open to offers from other clubs.

The Brazilians said in a statement on their website that they will “engage and cooperate with any club that submits a genuine offer for Keagan Dolly to go and play overseas”.

Several reports on Thursday said that Montpellier had increased their offer for the midfielder to €1.7 million, which is apparently the amount needed to trigger the player’s buyout clause, and were expecting the deal to be finalised within 24 hours.

But a source close to the club said that while they have given Dolly the go-ahead to leave, Sundowns were still waiting on the player’s representatives to do right by them.

“The reality is that the boy will be released,” said the source “As it is, he didn’t train today. He was instructed to clear his locker and prepare for his trip overseas, most probably to Montpellier.”

But it might also be to another club, if any other firm offers come through as per the statement on the club's website.

“The buy-out clause has not been activated because his agent must make things happen. He has gone out and made statements out there which were not true and he needs to rectify things. The club has been nothing but supportive to the player’s career but then his representatives went out and said things that are not true.”

Sundowns are apparently still irked by earlier reports that painted them out as blocking the player’s move by ‘changing’ the amount of his buyout clause.

Dolly’s saga has dominated the transfer window period, going as far as the Dispute Resolution Chamber of the PSL.

It even led to club president Patrice Motsepe calling a press conference to clear what he believed were untruths about the contract of a player who had attracted interest from clubs such as Manchester City and Greek outfit Olympiacos.

Motsepe said that Sundowns would not stand in the player’s way.

“Keagan has a buy-out clause,” he said “That’s why we say that if we get an offer, not next week, not tomorrow but today, we will release him immediately. It’s very important for us to keep the morale and the motivation at the club at its optimum. If a player wants to leave, you have to let him go.”

While the source said the buyout clause had not been activated, it's more than likely that Dolly won’t be donning the yellow and royal blue of Sundowns anymore.
