Johannesburg – Bloemfontein Celtic coach Clinton Larsen has resigned after his side’s 4-0 Telkom Knockout drubbing at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday, the club confirmed.
Larsen handed in his resignation on Monday following a string of poor results, which left them 11th on the Premier Soccer League log, with the cup exit the latest to compound their troubles.
Celtic released a statement confirming that they had accepted Larsen’s resignation.
“Larsen contacted senior management this morning and the club was left with no choice but to accept his resignation. The club would like to thank Clinton for his achievements over the past three years as head coach.”
Larsen said it was time to give someone else the chance to resurrect the club’s fortunes.
“The time is right for me to leave and I wish the club everything of the best. I feel personally it is the right time to give someone else an opportunity to help the club grow.”
Assistant coach Boebie Solomons will take over the coaching duties. – IOL
