Pretoria - Mamelodi Sundowns winger Percy Tau is a player very much at the top of his game, the livewire winger responding positively to the backing of head coach Pitso Mosimane.

Tau has taken some time to break into the star-studded Sundowns side on a regular basis and spent last season out on loan at NFD club Witbank Spurs.

But on his return to Chloorkop, he has been thrust straight into the deep end by featuring for his club in the CAF Champions League, where he put in some excellent performances.

That was followed up with a Man of the Match showing in the Brazilians' 3-1 victory over SuperSport United in the MTN8 Cup on Sunday. “We knew which side to attack and how to defend when we lose the ball.

It was a collective victory and we are happy that we progressed to the semifinals,” Tau said of the Tshwane derby win. The 22-year-old went on to explain how Mosimane has helped him settle into the Sundowns team.

“I do a lot of talking with the coach. He is always behind everything I do. We are building a strong bond because he is starting to understand more of what I am trying to do, and also I am trying to understand his tactics and how to be in the structure of the team.”
