Of the countrys top four teams, Kaizer Chiefs is the only on that was relatively inactive during the January transfer window.

Of the country’s top four teams, only three made the most of the transfer window with significant signings.

While Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United used their cheque books to beef up their squads, Kaizer Chiefs took a back seat, signing one fairly unknown Zimbabwean – Brian Abbasi Amidu – before what promises to be an intriguing second half of the Absa Premiership campaign.

“We will see in the next couple of months,” said Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic.

Although Chiefs are in third position with 28 points, the Naturena-based side have been criticised for lacking in quality. Last year a furious Bobby Motaung lambasted people questioning the quality of the side.

Whether Chiefs lack quality will become evident as the league gears for a close.

Vermezovic is happy that Amakhosi were able to retain a number of players whose contracts end with the close of this season.

Midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala, 27, extended his stay at Amakhosi after a proposed move to English championship side. Crystal Palace did not work out for him. VV, as the Chiefs trainer is known, believes the Bafana Bafana midfielder may yet make it to Europe.

The Chiefs boss is hopeful that his side will have their hands on a piece of silverware at the end of the season. There are only two trophies – in the league and the Nedbank Cup – up for grabs.

“Every game is very important for us. We will try to achieve something this season,” said Vermezovic.

“Everywhere in the world cup games are interesting. Small clubs are motivated to play against big teams. On our side, it is our experience that can see us through.”

Vermezovic’s contract ends with the close of the season.

well people may blame kaizer chiefs for not buying players but all the psl clubs do not like kaizer chiefs anymore because they have a bad attitude, if chiefs needs a player from a team, they price always sky rockets
