Pretoria – SuperSport United have parted ways with coach Cavin Johnson, the club announced on Friday.

“It's true Cavin is no longer the coach,” SuperSport United's media and communications officer Koketso Gaofetoge said.

Johnson had endured a torrid time after his team recorded three loses and out of four matches in the Premiership this season.

His fate was sealed during the week when they slumped to a 2-1

shock defeat in a home match at the hands of Mpumalanga Black Aces.

During Johnson's 13 month tenure at the helm, the club finished fifth in the league last season and failed to capture any cup silverware.

Joining the club after an impressive spell with Platinum Stars, he was the first coaching casualty of the new season.

Kaitano Tembo and Kwanele Kopo would take charge of the side until the club announced a new mentor. The former three-time Premiership champions faced a tough away assignment against in-form Kazier Chiefs on Saturday at the FNB Stadium. – Sapa
