Johannesburg – Zeca Marques has been named head coach of Moroka Swallows, replacing new Bafana Bafana mentor Gordon Igesund, according to media reports.
“I have officially been appointed the new coach and now I must get going because it is pre-season,” Marques, the club's former assistant coach, told kickoff.com on Monday.
“It is a great challenge and I’m more than confident we can achieve something out of this, because we have the players.”
Igesund was appointed as the new Bafana coach on Saturday, replacing Pitso Mosimane who was sacked last month after a string of poor results.
Having saved Swallows from relegation in 2010/11, Igesund completed a remarkable turnaround with the Birds this past season, guiding them to a second-place finish in the Premiership.– Sapa
