Johannesburg – Moroka Swallows assistant coach Dennis Lota has died, the club said on Wednesday.

Spokesman Sipho Xulu said the former Zambian and Orlando Pirates striker died on Tuesday after a short illness since his return from his home country two weeks ago.

Xulu could not confirm the circumstances of Lota's death, but said a statement would be released later on Wednesday.

The 40-year-old Lota played over 100 games for Orlando Pirates between 1998 and 2002. He featured for Mpumalanga Black Aces, AmaZulu, and Witbank Aces. He started his career at Zambian club side Konkola Blades in 1995. – Sapa
