South African referees will fly the country's flag in the second leg of the Confederations Cup finals next month.
Caf have appointed Jerome Damon, Andrew Rezeers, Enock Molefe and Daniel Volgraaf to officiate, the SA Football Association (Safa) said in a statement on Monday.
The first leg of the final between FUS (Morocco) and CSS (Tunisia) will be held on Sunday, with the second leg at the Taieb Mhiri Stadium in Tunisia on December 4.
Safa said the appointment followed that of Daniel Bennett and his team to officiate in the second leg of the Champions League final, which they did with “diligence”.
Safa professional referees co-ordinator Adeel Carelse said this was the first time one country been given the privilege of such prestigious appointments.
“If one takes into consideration the sterling performances by our referees at the 2010 Fifa World Cup finals, and the recently completed high level Caf 2012 Afcon qualifiers, one can truly say that it has been a remarkable year for the Safa’s Referees Department,” he said.
Carelse said match commissioners were presently undergoing a match assessors course as their training and development was just as important as that of referees. – Sapa

GOOD LUCK AND CONGRAGULATIONS ....hope he does well...and i trust PSL does'not appoint Mr Jerome Damons for next week Soweto derby..because he always take wrong decisions when officiating the derbies..

this is absolutely wonderful news. Many, many congratulations to the match officials. I suppose if one were to think about it's not really that surprising.
