Fabio Capello has resigned as England manager after the controversial decision to remove John Terry as team captain.
London - Fabio Capello resigned as England manager on Wednesday, the English FA said in a statement.
The Italian coach's resignation came after he met with FA chairperson David Bernstein to discuss the ruling body's decision to remove the England captaincy from defender John Terry until he stands trial in July for racially abusing an opponent.
“In a meeting for over an hour, Fabio's resignation was accepted and he will leave the post of England manager with immediate effect,” the FA said.
Capello disagreed with the FA's decision to strip Terry of the captaincy and spoke out in an interview on Italian television on Sunday.
“I would like to stress that during today's meeting and throughout his time as England manager, Fabio has conducted himself in an extremely professional manner,” the FA added.
“We have accepted Fabio's resignation, agreeing this is the right decision. We would like to thank Fabio for his work with the England team and wish him every success in the future.”

seems that commentators here are quite happy to find terry guilty before he has even faced the courts. no better than the faceles twitters. racial abuse has not been proven and at this time it is still an allegation. what will be done should the court find in terry's favour...are all the facelss wonders, the standard bearers of the racially pure, the criers for mob justice going to apologies...i doubt any of you have the balls to do so. but in the unlikelyhood you do apologise why not to his face. i care not foe english football or soccer in any manner but i do care for guilt proven before justice is metted out. we do not live in the dark ages of hanging by public demand!

Now Terry must be dropped from the England team,he caused all the trouble,a divisive character and not really a world class defender.

good riddance, thats hardly an excuse for him to resign though, just shows you that he does not take racism seriously at all tells you alot about his character, but then again racism is alive and well in Italy and sport in general, how can you defend someone when there is clear video evidence of racial abuse..eish

Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? I agree with Capello. In a democratic society you are innocent until proven guilty and the accuser of John Terry has yet to do that. It's not for Terry to prove his innocence, but Ferdinand to prove he is guilty. This is a cornerstone of British law, but it seems the English FA are unaware of it.
