Tranmere — English third-tier club Tranmere has fired its manager for breaching betting regulations.

Ronnie Moore admitted on Tuesday to multiple breaches of Football Association rules that prevented him from betting on matches in competitions involving his own team.

Tranmere initially suspended Moore in February, and terminated his contract on Wednesday.

Football operations director Mick Horton says the northern English club “will not tolerate any action that damages the integrity of this football club. Any staff members found to be guilty of misconduct will face severe action.”

The FA is looking to impose stricter rules, banning any players or club officials from betting on any football matches in England. – Sapa-AP
