LONDON - Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 71st goal for Portugal on Tuesday night - but the hosts threw away a 2-0 lead against Sweden to lose 3-2.

It puts the 32-year-old joint third in the list of all-time international scorers from Europe, level with former Germany star Miroslav Klose. Ronaldo - who posed with the European Championship trophy before kick-off - is chasing Europe’s record of 84 set by Hungary icon Ferenc Puskas.

Elsewhere, Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke hit a double as Belgium’s friendly in Russia ended 3-3. A penalty by Manchester City’s David Silva set Spain on their way to a 2-0 win in France.

Antoine Griezmann had a goal ruled out by a video referee being trialled for the match.

Holland’s woes continued as they lost 2-1 at home to Italy.
