Munich - Sebastian Schweinsteiger will miss the start of the Bundesliga season as the midfielder has not yet resumed full training following his exertions at the World Cup in Brazil with Germany, his club Bayern Munich confirmed on Saturday.

The 30-year-old is also struggling with a knee injury and could miss Germany's friendly international match against Argentina in Dusseldorf on September 3 as well as the world champion's Euro 2016 qualifier against Scotland four days later.

Bayern play third division side Preussen Muenster in the German Cup Sunday before commencing their Bundesliga title defence against VfL Wolfsburg next weekend.
