Johannesburg - The DA plans to ask Parliament to summon the leadership of Sascoc and Safa to resolve the ongoing dispute between the two, its MP Solly Malatsi said on Sunday.
He said the party was concerned with the SA Football Association's alleged threat to withdraw from the SA Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee.
Sascoc has ordered Safa to submit a report on its finances every six months for the next two years.
Sascoc said on Wednesday it had also decided to appoint a three-member finance team “to meet Safa regarding its current financial position”.
A report last year said Safa owed more R100 million despite South Africa hosting the 2010 Fifa World Cup.
“Safa should not discourage sports authorities from asking serious questions about their dismal financial performance by threatening to pull out of Sascoc,” Malatsi said.
The party would use parliamentary process to caution both organisations from engaging in a devastating tug-of-war, he said. - Sapa
