Tardy Sapiro disqualified from race

London – South Africa's Shireen Sapiro was disqualified from the women’s 100m butterfly S10 heats at the 2012 London Paralympic Games on Saturday morning, for failure to arrive at the first call room on time.

The International Paralympic Committeee swimming rule 2.7.3 stipulates that all swimmers must be in the first call room 20 minutes prior to the start time of their race.

Sapiro arrived at the call room over a minute late.

As a result, she was disqualified. – Sapa
