Johannesburg - South African Kevin Anderson advanced to the third round of the US Open with a straight-sets 7-6 6-4 6-4 victory over Canada's Vasek Pospisil on Wednesday.

Anderson, 30, has been beset by injuries for much of 2016 falling to 35th in the singles rankings after reaching a career-high 10th last year.

His victory in the second round over Pospisil sets up a clash means Anderson will face France's Jo Wilfried Tsonga on either Friday or Saturday depending on the draw.
