Paris - Former top-ranked player Amelie Mauresmo will not compete in the mixed doubles tournament at the French Open because of the doping rules that apply to players coming out of retirement.
Mauresmo, who retired two years ago, had planned to compete alongside Michael Llodra after they were granted a last-minute wild card.
But tournament organisers have been informed by the French tennis federation that Mauresmo was not allowed to play because she is not in the sport's anti-doping programme anymore.
Mauresmo won two Grand Slam titles in 2006, at the Australian Open and Wimbledon. But she never won at Roland Garros, where she struggled to withstand the pressure in front of her home crowd. - Sapa-AP
