London – Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska has suffered a health scare before Saturday's Wimbledon women's singles final against Serena Williams, pulling out of a pre-match news conference.

The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) confirmed on Friday that Radwanska, who will be appearing in her first grand slam final, has an upper respiratory condition.

The 22-year-old third seed suffered a coughing fit in a news conference after her semifinal victory over Angelique Kerber on Thursday.

She is the first Polish woman to reach a grand slam final since Jadwiga Jedrzejowska, who was runner-up at the 1937 Wimbledon and U.S. Championships and 1939 French Championships.

Radwanska will climb to No. 1 in the WTA rankings if she beats Williams but she will start as the underdog against the four-times champion who served 24 aces in a power-packed performance against Victoria Azarenka in the last four. – Reuters
