The South African Fed Cup team continued their winning run in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday, when they beat Montenegro 3-0 to end tops in pool A.

South Africa will play Turkey on Saturday as they aim to qualify for the Fed Cup Euro/Africa Group I in 2013.

Turkey ended best of the pool B teams after the week long round robin tournaments.

Ilze Hattingh gave South Africa a winning start when she beat Vladica Babic 6-2 6-4 which was followed by a hard fought win by South African number two Natalie Grandin, who beat Danka Kovinic 6-4 7-5.

With the tie decided, South African team Captain John-Laffnie De Jager teamed up Madrie Le Roux with fellow junior and new cap Lynn Kiro for the doubles rubber.

Le Roux and Kiro made short work of Milica Sljukic and Vladica Babic beating the Montenegro team 6-1 6-1.

De Jager said the tie against Turkey is going to be a tough challenge.

“Turkey is a very solid team,” he said.

“It will be key for South Africa to win one of the two singles rubbers.

“With world number 24 in doubles specialist Grandin in the side, South Africa always has a good chance in the doubles.” – Sapa
